| Supplies for Your Shih-tzu Puppy |
| This is a basic list of supplies that I recommend you have on hand before bringing your shih-tzu puppy home. Your obedience trainer may have other supplies that they recommend also. |
*Eukanuba Small Breed Puppy Food
*Stainless-steel non-tipping food and water bowls
*I.D. tags with the contact information for yourself
*Harness collar and leash. I recommend the harness collar as it pulls on their
chest rather than their neck.
*A wire crate to continue their crate training at home, and a travel crate for in
the car. If your puppy is shipped, then your first travel crate will come with the
puppy.
*Dog shampoo (we use Top Performance ordered through www.petedge.com)
*Brushes and combs (a slicker brush will take out tangles in short hair, a wire
toothed comb is needed to get deep into the coat to get the hidden tangles out).
*Toothbrush and toothpaste
*Cleanup supplies such as stain remover, paper towels, deodorizing spray
*Chew toys
*Nail clippers
*An exercise pen to help with the crate training. This helps to confine the puppy
when outside so that they don't become so distracted and can remember why
they are out there.
*The Dog Listener by Jan Fennel. This comes in book or DVD form. This has been
more helpful to me and past customers than any other reading material. It is
very effective and helps new owners to realize how their puppy interprets their
actions. It teaches you how to get your puppy to willingly cooperate. A happy
obedient puppy is a pleasure to be around. I think this is a must read!
